
Jayasimha N. Murthy, MD, FCCP, DABSM
Jayasimha N. Murthy obtained his MD degree from St. Johns National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore, India in 1995, following which completed his residency at Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn, NY and his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care from Baylor College of Medicine. He was full-time faculty in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at The University of Texas Medical School. While at the medical school, Dr. Murthy carried out NIH funded translational research in diffuse parenchymal lung diseases (ILD) and pulmonary fibrosis as well as pioneering research in non-contact sensing technology for sleep studies in collaboration with scientists at University of Houston. For this effort, he has received numerous awards, and recognition including the Alfred Soffer research Award from the American College of Chest Physicians.
Dr. Murthy’s research work has been published in leading engineering and medical journals and has also been featured on the website on National Science Foundation. Dr. Murthy joined PCCS in 2010. His interests include sleep apnea, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis and mechanical ventilation.
